Principal's Message

As many of you are aware, the principal at Arroyo resigned unexpectedly last week. In order to maintain consistent administrative support, Mindy Shelton is covering the Arroyo campus. This is only a temporary situation. A more permanent solution will be coming within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, please direct any communication you may have to me.

This week we are celebrating many important days and programs to continue the efforts of making CMS a supportive and safe campus where everyone is respected and acts responsibly. These include Start With Hello WeekAlly WeekCharacter Day, and Go Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Students are encouraged to participate in the following activities:

Monday

  • Start With Hello: Students will receive a name tag to wear all day
  • Childhood Cancer Awareness Month: Students will receive a yellow ribbon to wear for the entire week

Tuesday

  • Ally Week Photo Booth: Students can create a sign about being an ally

Thursday

  • Character Day: During Second Step, students will watch and participate in a meaningful discussion on two seperate videos inspiring our adaptable minds and how important initiative is

Friday:

  • Go Gold Day: Students wear gold or yellow and their ribbons in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness month
  • Ally Week Photo Booth: Students can create a sign about being an ally

Thank you in advance for helping make this week a special one!

Tom Domer

Fall Fundraiser!

Thank you to all of the families who have donated to our Fall Fundraiser thus far!  We are more than half way to our goal!

Did you know that 40% of the PTA budget is allocated to teachers to purchase supplies and materials for their classroom? Carlie Peck, 6th grade science teacher, used a portion of her funds towards science lab materials.  During the Spaghetti Tower Lab,  students attempted to engineer the tallest tower possible using only 20 spaghetti noodles and 1 meter of masking tape to support 1 large marshmallow. PTA funds purchased the spaghetti and marshmallows. During the M&Ms Color Lab, students practiced collecting and graphing data with a random sample of regular or crispy M&Ms all purchased with PTA funds.

If you have not had a chance to donate, please do so here.

Thank you for your support!

Directory Burst – The Online School Directory is Now Available!

The PTA is pleased to announce that the 2018-19 CMS Online Directory is ready! If you provided an email address in InfoSnap, and agreed to have your information shared in the CMS directory, you can access the school information through Directory Burst. We will also be providing a printed version of the directory to all CMS families in early October.

For families who utilized the CMS online directory last year, no action is required. Your account has automatically been updated and you have full access to the 2018-19 information.

For families who are new to CMS (or have a different email from last year), follow these steps to access the 2018-19 online directory:

1. Look for an email invitation from Directory Burst that contains a link to our CMS directory. (Please check your Spam folder if you do not see the Directory Burst invitation.)

2. When you click the link, you will be prompted to create a password. This protects our directory data, so that only members of our CMS community have access.

3. Once you have logged in, select the CMS Directory to view all students and/or staff by name or by grade.

For returning families who did not utilize Directory Burst last year and no longer have the original invitation, please send an email that includes your child’s name and grade to Linda Kleinschmidt ([email protected]) and a new invitation will be sent to the email addresses you provided for the directory.

A Directory Burst app is available for your smart phone in the Apple and GooglePlay app stores. It is a great way to access the school directory when you are on the go.

NOTE: If you requested in InfoSnap that your information not be shared with the CMS PTA, then your child WILL NOT be listed in Directory Burst or the printed directory. If you would like to be listed, please send your information to Linda Kleinschmidt ([email protected]) before September 21st.
