Week-at-a-Glance

______________________________________

Last week we sent out our elective class offerings and the sign up sheet.  Please take some time to discuss elective class choices and submit the form.  If you have an incoming 6th grader and are interested in the elective wheel, please be patient on hearing about our wheel classes.  I am still looking for a Spanish teacher so I cannot say for sure what the wheel classes will be at this time.  I will communicate specifics as soon as possible.

Student and Community COVID19 Testing to Keep Our Kids on Campus

Please take advantage of the no cost surveillance COVID-19 testing provided by the San Mateo County Health Department.

Please sign up for weekly testing for yourself and your child. Contact your health provider for a test if you have symptoms or know you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.

Keeping COVID cases off of our campuses will keep our in person learning possible. As a reminder, if a student or or teacher tests positive for COVID, we will need to transition that cohort back to distance learning for at least two weeks to avoid spreading the virus.

Sign up at one of the following locations to begin your regular weekly testing:

Central Middle School

  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Fridays 10:00 am-4:00 pm
  • Thursdays 1:00-7:00pm

SCEF

San Carlos Education Foundation (SCEF)

We have just one full week left of our Make It Happen in May campaign!

Help us meet our $3 million goal. Please consider making or finalizing your annual fund contributions to the San Carlos Education Foundation by May 31, 2021 to help us prepare for a robust 2021-22 school year! While our fundraising year officially ends on June 30th, we strive to "Make It Happen in May" so that SCEF can provide our school leadership with a reliable estimated grant amount to aid in their budget planning for next school year. We have so much to be excited about for next school year, and so much to celebrate! SCEF's successful fundraising allows for: New StemScopes science curriculum, Principals' Flex Funds (for site specific items), technology, smaller class sizes, Social Emotional Learning programs and counselors and middle school Don't Delay!  Donate today at https://scefkids.org/donate/.

NOW is your chance to double your donation! SCEF Business Sponsors Premia Capital & Prince St. Partners have funded a matching pool of $100,000 for all donations made before May 31st. Please consider making a gift today to take advantage of this generous offer. If your employer matches, remember to donate via workplace giving. It is especially important to make your gift now if you donate via your employer's workplace giving program. It often takes up to 8 weeks for these donations to make their way to SCEF. Stock donations and Donor-Advised Fund gifts are welcome too. Contact [email protected] for more information, or to let us know your gift is being processed.

Set It and Forget It
Want to be sure to donate to SCEF, but don't want to do it all at once? Consider setting up a recurring gift to SCEF. See how easy it is to meet our annual ask of $1500 per student. For example, one child at $125/mo x 12 months gets you to the "ask", or $250/mo for two! As always, whatever amount works for your family is appreciated!  Go to www.scefkids.org/donate to set-up your monthly contribution. Thank you!

Kamparama!

San Carlos-Belmont After School is proud to be providing a summer camp program, Kamparama, on all four elementary school campuses in San Carlos this summer. Enrollment is limited due to CDC guidelines but openings are still currently available.

Children from 4½ to 11 years old are welcome to join in the weekly activities that include arts and crafts, outdoor games, water slides weekly and themes to tie it all together.

Kamparama opens at 8:00 am each day and will end at 5:00 pm.  Drop offs and pickups are any hours between those times.

We will be preparing healthy and delicious lunches and snacks daily for the kids, one less job for busy parents. We'll also have a visit from the ice cream truck each week, just to sweeten the day!

Kamparama will provide a fun, safe environment for kids this summer just as it has for 40 years.  We invite you to check out our web site for more information and/or to register.

Steve & Kate's Summer Camp

At Steve & Kate’s Camp, kids take chances and take charge, shaping their day, their way. More choices and fewer expectations creates more possibilities, more self-trust, and less self-doubt.

Campers will choose an interest-based, pod-like group, called a Squad. At camp, children will gather with their fellow enthusiasts to immerse themselves in activities, or pursue projects with an emphasis that speaks to their tastes. Squad specialties include sewing, building, performing arts, coding and gaming, sports & recreation, or a mix of everything! Campers will also have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor classes, socially distanced indoor and outdoor recreation, performances, fan-favorites like Gameshow, gaga, and wacky or wet inflatables, and a circuit of rotating activities featuring arcade games, clay, sewing, and more.

We’ve also got plenty of perks for parents. Lunch and snacks are included daily, and there’s no risk if your plans change. At the end of the summer, if you have any leftover purchased Day Passes, we’ll refund them in full, automatically.
