Principal's Message
Week-at-a-Glance
Dear CMS Families,
Conference Week is October 5th 9th. I will be emailing a link to a Google Calendar for families to sign up for a conference slot. We are making every effort to have every teacher present during each conference, but this may not be possible for every time slot. Please indicate in the notes if you would like to conference with a particular teacher. You can also reach out to your child’s Advisor teacher directly. I will be sending the calendar and schedule out in a separate email later in the day.
Homework Club
CMS has begun our Homework Club to help students get some homework done, and to give students the opportunity to work with one another in a productive way. We will have teachers on hand to help out. Please let your child’s Advisor teacher know if you are interested in Homework Club.

Support Central by Joining Team Kid!
The Central Arroyo PTA and SCEF are working together to fulfill the needs of our students and bridge the gap left by CA state school funding. With 25% percent of San Carlos School District's budget made up by community fundraising, donations to your school PTA and the San Carlos Education Foundation are critical to our schools' success.
Click HERE to join TeamKid and play a part in this joint effort to provide the best experience possible for our hard-working students and teachers at Central. Our ask is $125 per student to PTA and $1500 per student to SCEF, but any amount is appreciated. Join the TeamKid movement by making your PTA donation this fall and planning your SCEF donation at a time that works best for your family. Thank you for supporting TeamKid!

Proposition 15 - Schools & Community First
The San Carlos School District unanimously approved a resolution in support of Prop 15 Schools and Communities First on the ballot in November. The District would receive an estimated $1,896,397 and the City of San Carlos $4,112,000 in additional funding if the initiative passes. According to the measure's sponsors, The California Schools & Local Communities Funding Act would raise an estimated $12 billion annually statewide for schools and local communities including $830 million for San Mateo County.

SCEF
Thank YOU
Autumn is here, and the school year is well on its way! We want to appreciate YOU--the parents. You are partnering with our teachers and staff in a very different way this year to make school happen. We want to say THANK YOU to our amazing and resilient teachers, staff and administrators. They could not do what they are doing without YOUR support. SCEF is constantly exploring ways we can impact and support the students and families in our schools.
We know that our fundraising makes a huge difference in what we are able to help our district provide for the children of San Carlos public schools. Your donations to SCEF last year will enable us to grant over $3.3 million to support San Carlos public schools. These grants enable the School District to purchase hundreds of new devices for students making progress to the goal of achieving a 1:1 device to student ratio. Grants will also support Ed-tech applications for online learning and management systems, smaller K-3 class sizes, professional development in distance learning for teachers, music programs including an instrument replacement fund, middle school electives, mental health/social emotional learning staff, principal funds to support individual school site needs and more. Your contributions make a real difference for our students during this challenging school year. Thank you!
