Principal's Message

8/24/20

Hello CMS,

Thank you all for a great start to the school year.  I have heard from so many of you how wonderful it is to be “back in school”.  Teachers are happy to have students again and I know our kids are eager to learn.

Electives and PE

PE and Electives classes are scheduled to begin next Wednesday (8/26).  We will be sending out updated schedules early next week.

Students who signed up for Independent PE do not have to show up for a PE class.  Families will be required to take care of physical activities on their own.  We do not need an activity log, but it might be a good idea to create one yourself for your family.  Students who are enrolled in PE with us will be hearing from their PE teachers this week.

Back-to-School Night

We will be holding our BTSN on Monday, August 31st (this is a change from what was communicated in the Town Hall).  Teachers will be pushing out zoom links for their classes.  You will follow your child’s schedule similar to the way we have done it in the past.  More information to come!

Week at a Glance

Last year we provided a weekly log of assignments and due dates.  Families found this to be extremely helpful.  Teachers will be putting this together again this year.  We will be pushing out the Week-at-a-Glance sheets to parents in a consistent way that is easiest for parents and students.

Email Communication

Under Distance Learning, email is the safest way to communicate with the school.  Given this circumstance, principals are receiving an unmanageable amount of emails in a day.  If I have not responded to an email, I apologize, I am doing the best I can.  While I would love to respond in detail to each and every one of you, it has become very difficult.  If you need something from the school try to contact your child’s teachers, Ms. Gamez or Ms. Jobak before reaching out to me.  If you still need assistance,  feel free to email or call me.  Sometimes an old fashioned phone call is the best thing.

Remote Learning

I have included this resource for a Webinar put on by Stanford Continuing Studies.  I attended a Stanford Webinar last year that I found very informative.  If you have the time, please join.

Navigating Remote Learning

Here is to another great week.

PTA

Hello new and returning Central Mustang families,
Welcome to a new and exciting year of school and a new year of PTA. The 2020 - 2021 school year will truly be unlike any other.

If this is your first year at Central Middle School, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to each of you.  If you are a seasoned Mustang family, I know that you are as excited as I am to be getting the kids back to school. Whether a new PTA member or a returning member, we thank you for your contributions, time, and commitment to our organization, our teachers, and most importantly, our students!

As we start this year together during the time of the COVID 19 pandemic, please remember the mission of the PTA remains the same - to positively impact the lives of children and families. Together at Central, we fulfill this mission through our wide-ranging efforts by supporting school and district programs, building community through family events, and giving direct help to the teachers and staff at Central.

I am looking forward to continuing the close working partnership we have with our awesome Principal, Mr. Domer and our amazing teachers and staff. We will continue to support them in providing an excellent learning experience for our children - regardless of the circumstances.

We all know this year is going to look very different and present some big challenges. I hope you will call on your creative energy and optimism to help us make it fun and exciting, albeit different.

Let’s have a great year!

You can RSVP for the meeting over Zoom via this link. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Get Involved
You can support the Central PTA in many ways:

Becoming a PTA member: As a member of the Central PTA, you are a voice for our kids and part of the largest child advocacy program in the world. Check the school calendar for upcoming meetings and events.
Volunteering: There are a number of positions we are hoping to fill immediately as well as many more opportunities throughout the year to be part of the solution. Check out PTA How to Get Involved and Support Our Programs for details.
Donating: Provide resources and time to make a difference. Check out the Membership and Fundraising page on how to contribute to making a difference.

SCEF

A BIG thank you to our amazing and resilient teachers, staff and administrators--a first week of school for the ages. They could not do what they are doing without YOUR support.

SCEF is constantly exploring ways we can impact and support the students and families in our schools. Please consider supporting our efforts through your workplace giving program, where you can make a one-time gift, or set up for a monthly recurring gift. If your employer doesn’t offer a charitable giving program, how about directly setting up a recurring gift to SCEF? Set up a monthly amount NOW that you are comfortable with and see how easy it is to meet our annual ask of $1500 per student. For example, $150/mo x 10 months (Sept-June) gets you to the “ask”, but whatever amount works for your family, we so appreciate!
