Our Mission

It is our primary mission here at CMS to provide a first class educational experience to every one of our students. Our goals for the upcoming year are based on what we believe are the unique needs of our student body. This year we will be focusing on four main areas:

• We want to see engaged, competency-based learning where students thrive both academically and developmentally
• Teachers and staff are enthusiastic about student learning and have what they need to create extraordinary learning outcomes for our children
• Parents and community members are actively involved in the education of our children
• We work to sustaining a positive, well structures school climate

The continual mission of our teachers is to create lesson plans that reflect our values. We want our students to develop a wide range of core competencies that will be useful for them throughout their lives. We do not know what the jobs of the future will look like, but we do know what skills will be needed. This is why we are going to continue our focus on the 5Cs (Citizenship, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication and Ownership) and Personalized Learning. We also plan to maintain our momentum around Project Based Learning. Our ultimate mission is to establish an environment where our students have confidence in their ability to learn.

Another one of our missions at CMS is to build a strong school community that is tolerant and respectful of everybody. When our kids know that we value them personally, they will develop higher levels of self-confidence and they will feel safe enough to take risks with their learning. The CMS staff wants students to feel safe enough to make mistakes and learn from them. Because of this, we plan on sustaining our focus on a Supportive and Inclusive School Community. We plan on continuing the work we have been doing in implementing a system of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS), a research-based framework designed to improve school climate, reduce problem behavior, and increase instructional time. CMS has four core values: RESPONSIBLE, RESPECTFUL, SUPPORTIVE, and SAFE. It is our mission to have every student here at CMS honor our core values.
